Is the Momcozy M9 better than the Momcozy M5?

The Momcozy M9 is the better option if you want advanced features like app control, customizable pumping rhythms, additional professional modes, and the ability to pump directly into a bottle. It’s designed for moms who pump frequently, return to work, or want more control over their pumping sessions.

The Momcozy M5 is better suited to moms who prioritize comfort and pumping feel. Its 105-degree ergonomic flange angle and vibration-assisted mixed mode make it a strong choice for gentler, more natural-feeling pumping sessions.

The better option depends on whether you value smart features and control (M9) or comfort and simplicity (M5).

Does this comparison apply to the Momcozy M5 Lite or M5 Smart?

This comparison focuses on the standard Momcozy M5, which shares the same core pumping technology, flange design, and comfort features as the Momcozy M5 Lite and M5 Smart. The primary differences between these models relate to app connectivity and minor feature variations, not pumping performance.

If you’re deciding between the M5 Lite, M5 Smart, or M9, the comfort and pumping feel described here still apply, with the M9 offering more advanced control through the Momcozy app.

Momcozy M5 vs M9: Key Differences That Matter

There are definitely more differences than similarities when it comes to the Momcozy M5 and Momcozy M9 pumps.

Sure, both are wearable breast pumps, however they have quite different designs and functionality.

So, let’s take a closer look with my Momcozy M5 vs M9 comparison!

Pump Design

Both the Momcozy M5 and Momcozy M9 are all-in-one wearable breast pumps. There is no tubing or separate motors to worry about as you pump motor and collection containers are all in the one unit.

All in one design aside, the M5 and M9 are actually quite different in terms of design.

Firstly, you have a difference in the shape of the pumps. The M5 has a semi-circular design compared with the tear-drop shape of the M9. The tear-drop shape of the M9 is designed to be more ‘breast like’ and as such more discreet when worn.

The Momcozy M9 also has a flat base so you can stand the pump up when not in use. This is a big plus for me as it means you can put your pump down, even when full of breast milk, without spilling it. The Momcozy M5 has a rounded base, so if you try and place it down when full, your breast milk can spill.

Next, is the collection containers. The M5 has a 5.4oz collection cup, typically seen with wearable breast pumps. The milk is collected in the collection cup and then needs to be transferred into your storage container once you’ve finished pumping.

This is in contrast to the Momcozy M9 that collects your breast milk into a 5oz bottle. Once you’ve finished your pumping session, you can then simple remove your bottle and add the cap and store it as per breast milk storage guidelines. I love this feature for pumping on the go as it  really simplifies your pumping session.

The one downside to the Momcozy M9 design is that it has more complicated parts to it. This means potentially more maintenance and additional cleaning.

Flange Design

Again, when we compare the Momcozy M5 vs Momcozy M9 flanges there are some distinct differences between these two pumps.

Staring with the Momcozy M5 flange.

The M5 flange is made of soft silicone. It comes in 2 sizes a 24mm and 27 mm for larger nipple sizes. It also comes with a unique 105-degree flange slope which is aimed to mimic the natural curvature of a baby’s mouth when latched onto the breast. This position helps to increase comfort and efficiency by allowing milk to flow naturally and unobstructed.

Now when we look at the Momcozy M9, it is made of a combination of hard and soft silicone. It only comes in 24mm and has a standard 90-degree flange slope.

Both pumps do have smaller flange inserts available for smaller nipple sizes.

Both pumps also come with the Momcozy Double Fit Flange, which is an additional seal that acts as a breast cushion as well as provides a better seal for improved suction and breast milk output.

However, the Double Fit Flange on the M9 is much larger than on the M5.

Pumping Modes and Suction Levels

When it comes to the functionality of these two pumps, both the Momcozy M5 and M9 feature a powerful suction of up to 300mmHg.

Both pumps also come with 3 modes: stimulation, expression, and mixed.

Where they differ is the M5 has a vibration feature with the mixed mode. The vibration is designed to enhance the pump’s efficiency by gently loosening milk ducts during your pumping session. This can result in an increased milk output and quicker pumping sessions.

The M9 does not have a vibration feature, yet it does have something the M5 does not, and that is Bluetooth integration for the Momcozy app.

Within the Momcozy app you have the include of two additional professional modes: Milk Relief and Milk Boost.

Milk relief is a quick release for balanced milk flow that is designed to help with engorgement. The milk boost is similar to power pumping and designed to help boost your milk supply. Please note though, these additional modes can only be accessed via the Momcozy app.

And to top that off, the Momcozy app also lets you customize your own pumping patterns! This means you have complete control of your pumping rhythms to best suit your output and comfort levels.

With the M9 you also have a huge 15 suction levels to choose from so you can easily tailor the suction intensity to suit your individual comfort and milk flow requirements. This is a big step up from the Momcozy M5 that only has 9 suction levels.

Battery Life and Charging

There is not a huge difference in battery life for the M5 and M9, however the M9 does comes out on top with an additional 30 minutes of battery usage off a single charge.

The M5 comes with 120-minute battery life and takes 2 hours to fully recharge.

The M9 comes with 150-minute battery life and takes 2 hours to fully recharge.

Both pumps can be recharges via USB for added convenience.

LED Screen

I really like that both the M5 and M9 feature LED screens, but the M9 Mobile Flow really stands out to me with the addition of the Momcozy app integration.

The LED display on the Momcozy M5 is straightforward, showing only the essentials like mode, suction level, and briefly displaying the battery life when you power it on.

In contrast, the Momcozy M9 takes it up a notch with a larger, clearer screen that not only shows battery life but also includes a built-in timer for added convenience.

Additionally, the M9 features the Momcozy app integration. Within the app you can control your pump including starting, pausing, and stopping your session. It also means that you have a very discrete way to control and monitor your pump.

In addition, the app lets you record and track your pumping sessions and milk output.

Noise Levels

Both the M5 and M9 have a similar noise range at less than 50 dB.

Price And Value For Money

I think it comes as no surprise that the Momcozy M9 is more expensive than the Momcozy M5, especially with its upgraded features such as pumping direct to a bottle and the Momcozy app integration.

That said, I think both pumps offer a ton of value especially when you consider there are other pumps brands offering similar features for a much higher price like the Elvie Wearable Pump.

They also come with bunch of accessories such as additional flange inserts and the hard-shell carry case with is another big value add.

The Verdict

So, which Momcozy pump should you choose — the M5 or the M9 Mobile Flow? The answer really comes down to whether you value comfort and simplicity, or advanced control and flexibility in your pumping routine.

If a gentle pumping experience is your priority, the Momcozy M5 is hard to beat. Its 105-degree flange angle and vibration-assisted mixed mode create a softer, more natural feel that many moms find easier to stick with during longer sessions. It’s a strong option if you want an effective wearable pump without extra tech or app reliance.

On the other hand, the Momcozy M9 is designed for moms who want more control over their pumping sessions. App connectivity, customizable pumping patterns, additional professional modes, and the ability to pump directly into a bottle make it especially useful for frequent pumpers or structured workday routines.

Both pumps deliver reliable suction and hands-free convenience. Choosing between them isn’t about which one is “better,” but which one fits your lifestyle — comfort-focused and straightforward, or feature-rich with added flexibility.
