If you find anything missing or damaged, don’t hesitate to reach out to Momcozy’s customer support for assistance.

If you’re using a second-hand Momcozy V1 Pro pump I also recommend replacing items like valves, flanges, and any compatible flange inserts.

While getting new valves and flanges may add a bit to your budget, it’s key for keeping your pump clean and efficient for each session.

Also, be sure you have the correct flange size that fits your nipple size, as this can impact comfort and milk flow. The flange size on the Momcozy V1 Pro is 24mm and your kit comes with 17mm, 19mm, and 21mm flange inserts. If these are not the correct size, you will need to purchase the larger flange or smaller flange inserts separately.

Momcozy V1 Pro Components

One thing I love about the Momcozy V1 Pro is there are very minimal parts. Here’s a quick rundown:

Pump Motor: The compact and powerful motor is what creates and drives your suction. It also comes with your control panel and LED screen built into the top part of the pump.

Teardrop-Shaped Collection Cup: These are the containers that collect the expressed breast milk. They can hold over 7oz of breast milk.

On the Momcozy V1 Pro, the collection cup also comes with an attached diaphragm (not removable). These are also the same collection cups for the Momcozy V2 Pro.

Tubing: There are two different tubing options included with the Momcozy V1 Pro: single and double. Both have the collection cup and motor connectors attached to connect your pump motor and collection cups together.

Silicone Flange: This is the funnel-shaped part that fits over your breast. It comes in a 24mm flange tunnel size. There are additional flange inserts available in 17mm, 19mm, and 21mm sizes to reduce the flange tunnel size for smaller nipples. Choosing the right flange size is essential for comfort and effective milk extraction.

On the Momcozy V1 Pro, the flange also comes with an attached linker.

Valve: The valve controls milk flow into the collection cup, preventing backflow and keeping milk separate from the motor.

Charging Cable: The pump includes a USB-C charging cable to recharge the motor, making it portable and convenient to use on the go.

Assembly

The good news is that the Momcozy V1 Pro is nice and straightforward to assemble and the more you do it, the easier it becomes.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you reassemble your Momcozy V1 Pro:

Step 1

Before assembling your pump make sure that you have sterilized all the parts that come in contact with breast milk. This is the collection cups, valves, flange, and flange inserts.

You will also need to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling any of the sterilized components.

Step 2

Attach the silicone duckbill valve to the base of the connector. Push firmly to ensure that it is secure.

Step 3

Connect the flange with the main body of the collection cup.

There is a silicone tab at the top of the flange that needs to align with the pouring spout on the collection cup.

Once you have the correct alignment, firmly press the flange and collection cup together.

I also like to ensure a good seal by pressing my thumbs around the rim.

Step 4

Press the silicone pouring spout cap into the pouring spout. Ensure that it is firmly in place.

Step 5

Connect your tubing to the collection cup.

You have the choice between single and double pumping, so choose your tubing accordingly. For single pumping, the tubing comes with a single connector. For double pumping, the tubing comes with dual connections split by a white Y-shaped connector.

On the round tubing connector, you will see a grey dot that indicates the top of the connector. Once aligned, simply press the connector into the collection cup opening located on top of the diaphragm. You will hear it ‘click’ into place.

Repeat for the second collection cup if double pumping.

Suction Settings

The Momcozy V1 Pro offers an impressive range of customizable suction settings from the 15 suction levels to three distinct modes to the adjustable cycle frequency. But which setting should you choose?

Let’s start with the pumping modes!

There are the 3 pumping mode on the V1 Pro:

  1. Stimulation Mode: This mode is designed to kick-start your milk flow at the beginning of each session. It features quicker, lighter suction patterns to stimulate letdown, preparing you for the main part of your pumping. Run this for around 2 minutes or until your letdown kicks in.
  2. Expression Mode: After your let down has initial you can choose between the expression mode and mixed mode. The expression mode is a slower, more rhythmic suction pattern, which mimics your baby’s natural sucking to help fully empty the breast.
  3. Mixed Mode: This unique mode combines aspects of both stimulation and expression modes, alternating between faster and slower suction to enhance milk flow. Mixed Mode is ideal for moms who prefer an extra boost in their sessions or those experiencing difficulties with milk flow.

During any of the three modes, you can adjust the suction strength through 15 different levels from a gentle pull to a more intense suction. This allows you to tailor the intensity to suit your comfort and milk flow needs.

I recommend starting with a lower suction level and gradually increasing until you find the right balance that’s both effective and comfortable. Keep in mind that the highest setting isn’t always the most productive; finding a level that feels right for you is key to a more enjoyable and efficient pumping experience.

Finally, you have the adjustable cycle frequency levels, which allows you to control the speed of the suction cycles during each mode. This customization helps you create a pumping experience that closely resembles your baby’s natural rhythm, making each session more comfortable and efficient.

What Is Cycle Frequency?

Cycle frequency refers to how quickly the pump cycles between suction and release. Some moms prefer a quicker rhythm, especially during the initial letdown phase, while others find a slower, steady rhythm more effective for milk expression.

How to Use the Adjustable Cycle Frequency

With the V1 Pro, you can change the cycle frequency to match your needs via 3 different cycle settings. Each mode whether that’s a faster frequency for stimulation or a slower one for expression.

I suggest experimenting with different cycle speeds alongside the suction levels to find a combination that’s comfortable and efficient. Adjusting the frequency along with the suction allows you to fine-tune your settings to enhance both comfort and milk flow.

Momcozy V1 Pro Replacement Parts

Over time, some parts of your Momcozy V1 Pro breast pump may require replacement to keep it running smoothly and effectively.

If you’re noticing reduced suction or a drop in milk output, it’s a good idea to check your pump’s parts for any wear, damage, or stretching particularly in the silicone components.

Momcozy suggests replacing silicone parts, like valves and diaphragms, every 1-3 months, depending on how often you use the pump. Other components should be replaced as needed based on visible wear.

Here’s a list of available replacement parts for the Momcozy V1 Pro:

Regularly checking and replacing these parts will help maintain both the pump’s performance and your comfort. You can learn more in my guide on how often should you replace breast pump parts!

Troubleshooting Common Issues with the Momcozy V1 Pro

Here are some common troubleshooting issues with the Momcozy V1 Pro breast pump, along with quick solutions to keep it running smoothly:

1. Loss of Suction

  • Cause: Often, low suction is due to loose or worn-out parts, such as valves, diaphragms, or improperly assembled flanges.
  • Solution: Ensure all parts are assembled tightly and check for wear on the silicone parts. Replace worn components as needed, especially valves and diaphragms, as these are critical to maintaining suction.

2. Pump Won’t Turn On

  • Cause: This could be due to a low or dead battery, or an issue with the charging cable.
  • Solution: Charge the pump fully, ensuring the power connection is secure. If it still won’t turn on, inspect the charging cable and port for damage. You may need to replace the cable if it’s not charging effectively.

3. Milk Leakage

  • Cause: Leaks are often due to an improperly placed flange, overfilled collection cups, unsecured pouring spout lid, or incorrect positioning.
  • Solution: Make sure the flange is securely centred over your nipple to create a strong seal. Avoid filling the collection cups beyond the recommended level, and tilt forward slightly when removing the pump to prevent spillage.

4. Noisy Pump Operation

  • Cause: Unusual noises could indicate misaligned parts or a blockage.
  • Solution: Disassemble the pump, clean all parts, and reassemble them carefully to ensure they fit properly. Confirm that no milk or debris is obstructing any valves or tubing.

5. Discomfort During Pumping

  • Cause: Discomfort can result from the wrong flange size or a suction level that’s too high.
  • Solution: Use the flange size that best fits your nipple to avoid pinching or discomfort. Start at a lower suction level and gradually increase it to find a comfortable setting that works for you.

6. Pump Shuts Off Unexpectedly

  • Cause: The V1 Pro has an automatic shut-off feature after 30 minutes or as set with your timer, but sudden shutdowns can also occur if the battery is low or there’s a connectivity issue with parts.
  • Solution: Check the battery level and ensure all parts are securely assembled. If the issue persists, contact Momcozy’s customer support for further assistance.

7. Reduced Milk Flow

  • Cause: Reduced milk flow can be due to low suction, improper settings, or stress.
  • Solution: Make sure all parts are clean and undamaged, adjust the settings to a more comfortable level, and try relaxing techniques before pumping to improve letdown. Using the massage mode at the beginning of your session can also help stimulate milk flow.

Keeping your pump clean, using the correct flange size, and regularly checking parts for wear can help minimize issues and maintain the V1 Pro’s effectiveness.

Final Thoughts on Using the Momcozy V1 Pro

Once you get the hang of it, I think using the Momcozy V1 Pro breast pump is straightforward. The trick is familiarizing yourself with the assembly, settings, and maintenance, you can ensure smooth and successful pumping sessions every time.
