Similarities and Differences
The Momcozy M5 and Momcozy V1 Pro are some of the most popular portable breast pumps for moms. In this comparison, I will discuss the similarities and significant distinctions between these pumps.

Pump Design
When you compare the Momcozy M5 and the updated Momcozy V1 Pro, their design differences are immediately noticeable.
The M5 is an all-in-one breast pump. This means there is no tubing or wires that connect it to a motor and the motor is attached to the collection cup in a single unit.
I personally love this design as I feel it offers the most discretion and you don’t have to fuss with tubing. It simply fits within your pumping bra.
In contrast, the V1 Pro features a design with two milk collection cups connected to a separate pump motor via tubing. I do really love the newer sleek tear-drop design of the Momcozy V1 Pro’s collection cups. These collection cups are slightly smaller that the original V1, yet still old a huge 7oz. They are also very lightweight at just 130g per cup and fit discreetly inside your bra, while the motor can be worn around your neck or waist using the included strap.
While the V1 Pro still allows for hands-free pumping, you’ll need to manage the placement of the pump motor, which some may find less convenient than the M5’s all-in-one design. However, this separate motor design has its advantages, such as reducing the weight on your chest and potentially improving comfort for extended pumping sessions.

Flange Design
When it comes to these two Momcozy pumps, one of the big differences is in their flange design.
The Momcozy V1 Pro comes with the Momcozy’s DoubleFit™ flange system which provides a more comfortable pumping experience and a better seal to prevent unwanted leakages. The flanges are made of a hard silicone with the soft silicone double seal.
However, when it comes to flange design, for me the M5 is the clear winner with its unique 105° flange slope that also features the Momcozy’s DoubleFit™ flange system.
The meticulous calculation of the 105° flange angle is aimed at closely replicating the natural curve of a baby’s mouth during breastfeeding. By mirroring this angle, the M5 breast pump ensures a seamless and pain-free pumping encounter, effectively imitating the inherent mechanics of breastfeeding.
This precise contouring of the breast cup not only enhances comfort but also alleviates potential discomfort associated with the constriction of milk ducts which is a common issue with conventional breast pumps.
Importantly, this specific flange angle significantly contributes to the efficiency of milk flow. By allowing unrestricted and natural movement of milk, the M5 simplifies the pumping process, potentially leading to higher milk yield in a shorter span of time.
I really do think this distinctive feature is great for moms who are looking to prioritize their comfort during pumping.
Both pumps comes with additional flange inserts so you can find the size that fits best. They also provide a nipple size chart to make it even easier to get the right fit.

Pumping Modes And Suction Levels
The pumping modes and suction levels of the Momcozy M5 and V1 Pro are comparable, yet the Momcozy V1 Pro’s enhancements offer some distinct advantages.
Both pumps feature strong hospital-grade suction, reaching up to 300mmHg. This level of suction is impressive for wearable pumps and ensures effective milk expression. The V1 Pro, however has an impressive 15 suction levels compared with to the M5 that has only 9 suction levels. 9 suction levels is still great for finding a suction level you are comfortable with, but the 15 levels of the V1 Pro are an obvious advantage.
Both models also offer three pumping modes: Stimulation (for letdown), Expression, and a Mixed mode that combines both. The V1 Pro, however, takes things up a notch by introducing adjustable pumping frequencies within these modes, providing more control over the pace and intensity of each session.
On a positive for the M5, the third mode includes vibration. Personally, I find this vibrating feature fantastic, as it is strategically designed to gently loosen milk ducts. This can lead to increased milk output and faster pumping sessions, which is certainly a big win in my books.
Overall, while the M5 holds its own with powerful suction and effective modes, yet for me, the V1 Pro’s adjustable frequencies and increase suction levels give it a strong edge in versatility and performance.

Collection Cups
A less notable variation between the two pumps is the collection cups.
In terms of capacity, the Momcozy M5 only has a container capacity of 5.4 ounces, whereas the V1 Pro comes with a significantly larger 7 ounce capacity.
From my perspective, the added capacity of the V1 Pro can be beneficial for moms who frequently extract a significant volume of milk during each pumping session or those who opt for less frequent pumping throughout the day. The larger container reduces the need for frequent emptying, which allows you to focus on milk expression without disruptions and thereby maximizing pumping effectiveness.
In addition, another difference is in the cup transparency. As there is no motor attached to the collection cup of the V1 Pro it is completely transparent, this makes it very easy to see how much breast milk you have pumped at any one time. In contrast, the M5 is partially covered thanks to its all-in-one design. Nevertheless, both options ensure convenient monitoring of collected milk during your pumping routine.
One last difference is the Momcozy V1 Pro has the ability to pump directly into the Momcozy breast milk storage bag instead of the collection cups. I think this is a fantastic added feature for those looking to store their breast milk long term.

Battery Life And Charging
When it comes to battery life, the Momcozy V1 Pro is the clear winner! It is capable of lasting up to massive 270 minutes or approximately 9 x 30 minute pumping sessions on a single full charge.
This is in comparison to the Momcozy M5 that only offers approximately 120 minutes of use on a single charge which equates to around 6 x 30 minute pumping sessions.
While I think the M5’s battery life proves sufficient for part-time pumpers, if you’re looking to use your pump multiple times throughout the day or full-time, you may find the battery life lacking.
In terms of recharging time, both pumps take around 2 hours to fully recharge.
LED Screen
There really is no question that the LED screen of the V1 Pro is superior when compared with the M5 Momcozy pump.
I feel Momcozy have really taken advantage of the separate motor from the collection cups with the V1 pro. Not only have they included a HD touch screen that is very easy to use, requiring just a light touch to swap between settings, but the screen on the V1 Pro is larger, clearer, and offers one of my favorite things….an adjustable in-built timer.
The adjustable timer on the Momcozy V1 Pro lets you set a timer for your sessions from as short as 5 minutes up to 30 minutes. So you can basically set your pump and forget. No more looking at your pump to track the time as it will automatically shut off when your session is complete. The newer model of the M5 feature an in-built timer but it is just standard count up timer.
That said, I love that the M5 still provides a straightforward and user-friendly interface, even if the LED screen is much smaller.
These displays offer a visual representation of vital information, including suction intensity, pumping mode, and battery status. I think having the display is a fantastic option as it equips you with real-time updates and allows you to make adjustments when needed.

Portability
When looking for a wearable breast pump, I think portability and discretion are incredibly important.
As I mentioned previously, the M5 breast pump has been designed with portability in mind.
It boasts a lightweight and compact ‘all-in-one’ design, with each pump weighing just 230g.
With the all-in-one design it means that the M5 pump fits more subtly into your pumping bra. It’s worth noting that it might be slightly visible from the top of the bra, although I feel that it is minimal.
With that being said, I still believe that the V1 Pro still maintains a discreet profile, especially as the collection cups have their breast-like tear drop shape and are extremely light weight, only 130 grams each. They are smaller than the M5 and fit snuggly into your bra. I think the separate motor and tubing is what makes it less discreet.
Again, when we are talking about portability, it’s hard not to love the inclusion of a hard-shell carry case with the M5! Beyond its visual appeal, this case proves perfect for safeguarding your pumps while you’re on the move.
The V1 Pro does not have a hard carry case.
Both pumps feature a clever bra adjustment buckle, allowing you to adapt your existing pumping bra for the Momcozy pumps, eliminating the need to invest in new ones.
Noise
Nobody wants to listen to a loud breast pump whilst pumping, especially if you’re at work or on the go and trying to be discreet!
Thankfully, all both of the Momcozy pumps are quite to operate.
The Momcozy V1 Pro is slightly quieter at less than 48 dB whilst the Momcozy M5 is less than 50dB.
Overall, I think the noise output of both pumps is very quiet, and within the confines of your home, the sound of pumping is likely to be hardly noticeable.
This is great, especially for nighttime pumping where you don’t want to disturb your baby.
If you’re pumping at work or on the go, the pumps might be slightly noticeable due to their sound, but that is the case with most electric breast pumps.

Price And Value For Money
Depending where you purchase you pumps from, the Momcozy M5 and Momcozy V1 Pro are very similar in price.
So, which one presents as the most value?
For me, I love the performance of the Momcozy V1 Pro, especially with the additional pumping frequency levels, increase suction levels, and customizable timer. The light weight, tear drop collection cups are also a big winner.
That said, I think the unique 105 degree flange design, vibration mode, and the all in one discretion of the M5 offers a ton of value, especially when you consider all the extras that it comes with such as the hard shell carry case.
The Verdict
In my opinion, I believe all both the Momcozy breast pumps, V1 Pro and M5 offer themselves as great options for an affordable hands-free breast pump. While each pump brings to the table their advantages, features, and innovations, the ultimate decision should come down to your individual lifestyle and priorities.
For me, the Momcozy M5 shines with its emphasis on effective and painless pumping. Its lightweight and ‘all-in-one’ design makes it an ideal choice for those that value mobility and discreet pumping. The incorporation of the 105-degree flange design and vibrate-to-pump mode in the mixed mode grants it a distinctive edge by stimulating milk flow and enhancing output.
On the flip side, the Momcozy V1 Pro shines with its performance and customization as well as its extended 270-minute battery life, and HD touch panel with an in-built, customizable timer. I think the Momcozy V1 Pro is a practical and versatile choice for moms who pump regularly.
In the end, the decision between the Momcozy V1 Pro vs M5 boils down to your personal preferences. If you’d like a broader overview of how these models compare to the full lineup, check out my Momcozy pump model breakdown to help guide your decision.
