My experience.

Motherhood.

I gave birth to my son in 2015, at the age of 32 (the same age my mom had me). And in 2018, I gave birth to my daughter. Whilst motherhood has certainly had it’s ups and downs, I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Breastfeeding.

Between both my children, I spent 5 years consecutively breastfeeding and pumping milk. Whilst I didn’t exclusively pump, I was a regular pumper. I loved that pumping enabled my husband to participate in feeding times, giving me a much needed break and helping to build his bonding experience.

My very first pump was a Medela Swing Flex. It was a great pump, but I’ll be honest, when I first tried to use it I was clueless. I had no idea about how it actually worked, different flange sizes, even how to store my breast milk. I spent hours researching, and even then I had to work out a lot of it as I went.

That’s what lead me to create Pumping Milk. I don’t want any new mom to have to struggle with setting up her pump or damage her nipples because her flange was too small. New moms have enough going on without fussing around trying to get their pump to work or figuring out how to set up a pumping schedule. I believe this information should be easy to find and easy to understand.

Qualifications.

Full disclaimer, I am not a Lactation Consultant nor claim to be. Though oddly I do own over 20 different breast pumps, and counting! That said, I do have formal qualifications that are highly relevant. This includes my Masters Degree in Public Health and Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion, both of which are centered around creating health campaigns that enable people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. Or in this case, breastfeeding journey.
